i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
i hear cars and trucks rumbling across the usa
i hear lost souls grumbling louder every night every day
i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
but weeks they never end for me
i work 2 jobs sometimes 3 i get paid minimum wage
i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
every night my husband puts his gun to my head
and says if you talk then you and the kids will be dead
i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
yesterday before the end of my shift the boss
stopped by to say in 2 weeks he’s laying me off
i’m not gonna take it any more

it’s friday in kentucky
3 slices of bologna 2 crackers no mustard no tea
the refrigerator quit working but who cares there’s no electricity
i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
the preacher says give me 10% cause i’m the voice of god
while he’s sleeping with 3 women and 2 men in the congregation
i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
the government takes nearly half of all my pay
everywhere i turn it’s tax tax tax they take it all away
i’m not gonna take it anymore

it’s friday in kentucky
weeks never end for me there are no weekends anymore
i do all i can to hold my head up but i’m ready to walk out the door
i’m not gonna take it anymore
